Eight Years
While sailing last year, Stu had used the phrase "coming out the woodwork" alot when people he knew kept calling and showing up seemingly at once.
Lately, I've been coming across it also.
A few weeks ago on Dec 29th, I met up with a good friend of mine, Emilio. We were classmates back in High School. We drove up with another friend, Fabian, to meet more MASTies. Jeremy, Jessica, Ricky and Erin.
We had a great time catching up, telling stories, reminiscing. This event came on the heels of me discovering all those old classmates on MySpace as mentioned in the previous post.
Now Ive had more old friends contacting me. It's kind of inspiring me to contact some myself.
But last night, I was driving home my friend's house after a night of Magic (Yeah, I still play that game), when flipping through the Satellite radio I came across that Nickleback song, 'Photograph'. Being the only thing that caught my attention at the moment, I left it on.
These four years we spent in High School seems to impact us throughout our lives. Songs, movies, and books have been inspired by the friends, sweethearts, and experience discovered. It's the experience we gain that molds us. Many of us start off High School as awkward kids unsure of what to expect. We all grow together with the friends we make and those we go to school with.
I graduated from MAST in 1998. Almost 8 years ago. And in those 8 years, I've seen a handful of my old friends a couple times and only really still hang with Tony. Not many remain in Miami. I believe that the very nature of MAST, and any other magnet school, spreads its alumni out across the world.
But running into them again is like we were only gone a summer. Emilio, Fabian and I exchanged stories on the way up to SatBeach. And even more stories were told at the dinner with everyone around.
Four short years that last through our lives.
I find it amazing.
